Before and After School Activities

Club Fit - Before School

Club Fit is a free before school walking/running program available to all students, K – 5th.  Being fit not only contributes to a child's physical health but also stimulates brain function and plays a critical part in overall school success.

Club Fit begins on September 4th, 2019 and meets on Wednesday mornings from 7:45 – 8:15.  Students enter the campus through the MPR.   Members of Club Fit are given a paws pass necklace and a mileage card, which is punched every time they pass the quarter mile mark on the track.  Each card will hold enough punches for 5 miles.   Once their card is full, members are given a token to place on their necklace, allowing students to track their total mileage.  Parents are welcome to walk with their children, although cards and necklaces are provided for students only.  We also welcome parent volunteers to help with hole punching mileage cards and putting tokens on necklaces. Parents must enter through the front office and provide identification which will be scanned through our LobbyGuard system. A sticker will be issued to be worn at all times while on campus. Please return the sticker to the front counter to be signed out when you leave.

The last day of Club Fit will be Wednesday, May ____.

If you would like to join Club Fit, complete the two page permission slip/insurance application and the concussion/sudden cardiac arrest information sheet, available in the school office and school website and return it to your teacher.  You can join any time during the school year. Don’t forget to thank the dedicated staff and volunteers who go the extra mile to manage this wonderful program!

Members of Club Fit are expected to follow the Dona Merced School rules to continue participating in the program and will be expected to purchase a replacement paws pass necklace for $5 cash after one week of losing the first one, which is provided for free.

Club Fit will be cancelled on days that are rainy or too windy.

Choir - Before School

Our wonderful and talented music teacher, Mrs. Bollacker, directs a 4th/5th grade before school choir,  from 8:00 - 8:30 on Wednesday mornings, that runs all year long.  Students may audition for the choir early in the year and then enjoy singing and performing in both a winter and spring concert.  The past two years the choir has had the privilege of singing at a Reigns Hockey game at the Citizen's Bank Arena and it is possible they may do so again this year. Keep on eye out for information to come home in our weekly Wednesday packets and on the music tab of our website!

After School Sports

Central School District is proud to offer soccer and track to students in 4th and 5th grades.  Both sports programs are coached by two dedicated staff members, Mrs. Jones (paraeducator) and Mrs. Culpepper (paraeducator).

Soccer season begins in September and practices are held after school on Wednesdays and Fridays. Students are taught the fundamentals of the game.  The season culminates with an exciting five-school tournament on November 13, 2019 at Coyote Canyon Elementary School.

Track season begins in the spring and includes training and practice in sprints, distance running, long jump and softball throw on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Dona students have fun competing in a track meet along with 4th and 5th grade students from Coyote Canyon Elementary and Ruth Musser Middle School at RMMS.  Dates TBD.  Students also have the opportunity to participate  in the large Rancho Cucamonga Rotary Track Meet on a large city-wide track meet, usually held on a Saturday in April.
